E-mail Buddy Scheme
SEED offers support via an e-mail buddy.
SEED Buddies are not therapists but are people who have an excellent understanding of an eating disorder. They give their time and voluntary support to others.
The Buddy Scheme is for suffers only. All supporters have a qualification in basic counselling and have undergone training to develop suffer support skills. These skills assist a supporter to inform a sufferer of a decision that is in their best interest of their well being.
Buddies are offered support and supervision and operate within pre-determined guidelines, terms and conditions. They operate in the best interest of both the client and the Buddy.
The scheme is offered for upto 6 months with reviews at 5 weeks, 3 months and 6 monthly intervals.
Once the initial contact has been made, the first e-mails are exchange and a mutual trust is established, the Buddy will check in with you once a week on a set day convenient to both parties.
All administration is carried out by SEED and you will be kept fully up to date at all stages of the scheme from initial contact to close of service.
This service is self referral!
Telephone Buddy Schemes
Available to sufferers weekly via a Telephone Buddy for up to six months. Monitoring and review systems are in place together with an exit plan involving support e mails.
The Telephone Buddy Scheme operates exactly the same as the e-mail buddy.
You will be offered support and encouragement on a weekly basis by a supporter who is trained to encourage you to seek the help you need for your underlying problems.
This service may suit the more mature sufferer who is not comfortable with using a computer.
The same terms and condition apply as for the E mail Buddy Schemes.
